Sunon (Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry Co.) was founded in Kuahsiung, Taiwan, in 1980 as a specialist in equipment cooling fans and drive motors. From the beginning, Sunon put particular emphasis on the development of new products and technologies - since that time, they have registered round 1700 patents worldwide for advanced and reliable fan motors. On the back of this remarkably high innovation output and their top quality products, Sunon has grown to become, in terms of product volume, the largest manufacturer of equipment fans in the world. In 2012, with around 8000 employees in one Taiwanese Development Devision and three Chinese production plants, Sunon produces 220 million fans and blowers and 100 million cooling modules. Since 1995, all of their production facilities have been ISO 9001 certified. QS9000 and ISO 14001 certification followed in 2001 and today Sunon’s entire production is in conformation with ISO/TS16949. In addition, they are OHSAS 18001 certified for Occupational Health and Safety.

The core of Sunon’s product palette comprises various series of modern DC fans. The proven ME/MB series combines operational quietness with high stability, making it the best choice for practically all standard applications.

As a high-performance fan, the PE series is targeted especially at equipment used in industrial applications. For mobile devices, the battery-saving MC series, with its minimal power requirements and optimal efficiency, is ideal. When cost-effectiveness is of particular importance, Sunon offers a good solution with their EE series.

Along with approved axial and radial DC fans, Sunon’s product range encompasses VDE-certified 
AC fans.

Newly developed by Sunon is their EC series. The electronically commutated frequency-converter motors of these fans combine the advantages of AC motors with the performance and flexibility of DC motors. Their compact motor design alone means that the EC-series fans deliver considerably higher performance characteristics and stability than conventional AC fans. In addition, the different models can be used with both 230VAC and 115VAC power supplies. The EC-series fans are available with a range of IP ratings, and ATEX-certified models can also be supplied.

The ongoing miniaturisation of electronic devices and the consequent demand for ever-smaller and lighter fans is a particular focal point, which is where the Mighty Mini comes to the fore - miniature fans with dimensions of 8x8x3mm (fan) and 9x9x3mm (blower)

LED Light For You (LLFY) partners Osram Opto Semiconductors, LEDiL, Mechatronix, Cezos, and ICT Suedwerk (along with engineering partner EuRepTec) have announced an LED-based horticultural lighting developer kit intended to allow product developers to explore the solid-state lighting (SSL) alternative to high-pressure sodium (HPS) lighting in horticultural applications. The kit is a four-channel design that allows developers to mix light from a combination of hyper-red, deep-red, deep-blue, and cool-white LEDs from Osram.
